Private W. Frost – Re 20th October 1916Private W. Frost – Re 20th October 1916

Private W. Frost, in a letter from England to his sister, writes –
“I have seen Bert Lamb, Les Halsall, Stewart Anderson, Alec Humphries, and Roy Ingleton, Tom Humphries is in London, so I didn’t see him. Ernie Dalrymple and W. Cook are in hospital at Devonport, and Frank Merifield is in hospital here somewhere. W. Lamb is here also, but I haven’t seen him.

A Reminiscence
05 May 2017

I haved lived in this district during the last 36 years, and my experiences may not be uninteresting to your readers.

Thirty-eight years ago I arrived in the colony on board an emigrant ship, in company with 200 fellow passengers, who were, like myself, weary of the old world and intent upon trying their fortunes in the new land of Australia. My capital was very small, and I found that when all expenses incendental to landing had been defrayed only a few pounds remained in my pocket . . . enough to procure food for two or three weeks, but nothing more.
